CRANBERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — An Oil City teen was pronounced dead at the scene of a two-vehicle crash that occurred yesterday afternoon on Cranberry Rockland Road, in Cranberry Township, Venango County.

According to Franklin-based State Police, this crash occurred around 2:32 p.m. on August 30, as a vehicle driven by 19-year-old Nickolas William Pardee, of Oil City, was traveling southbound on Cranberry Rockland Road towards Rockland.

Pardee’s vehicle encountered a Jeep Wrangler — driven by 58-year-old Gail A. Coulter, of Pleasantville — that was also southbound. Pardee attempted to pass the Jeep between the guide rail and the right hand lane that the Jeep was occupying, police say.

Pardee’s vehicle struck the Jeep in a sideswipe manner, causing the vehicle to strike the guide rail. The vehicle then became airborne sliding across the top of the concrete bridge barrier and continued in the same direction for a short distance. The vehicle then rolled nose down striking the pavement rolling the vehicle sideways and then rolled over three times prior to coming to a final rest facing west in the southbound lane, according to police.

Pardee was pronounced dead at the scene by Venango County Coroner Christina Rugh, according to police.

No information was provided on whether Coulter was injured in the collision.

The investigation is ongoing, police say.
