OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) – An Oil City woman has been charged for smoking what police suspect was methamphetamine–with a juvenile–at her Front Street residence in February.

Franklin-based State Police filed one first-degree misdemeanor count of corruption of minors against 20-year-old Miranda Julian Beichner on May 6 at Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish’s office.

According to a criminal complaint, the alleged crime was discovered after police investigated a report of a missing juvenile from Cornplanter Township, Venango County, on Monday, February 28.

On March 2, the juvenile reported to the Franklin State Police barracks and spoke with a trooper. During the exit interview, the juvenile was asked if she had committed any crimes or if any crimes were committed against her while she was missing.

The juvenile told police that she was staying with a friend, Miranda Beichner, at a residence on Front Street in Oil City. The juvenile said the two smoked a bowl containing a substance that she originally believed was marijuana; however, she indicated that the substance in the bowl had a “crystal-like” appearance, the complaint indicates.

According to the criminal complaint, the juvenile stated that after she smoked it, she “felt very funny, and it was a different type of high than what she was used to when she would smoke marijuana.”

The troopers asked if she was willing to take a drug test, and she said yes. The drug test, administered by Children & Youth Services of Venango County, came back positive for methamphetamine/amphetamine.

On March 8, police spoke with Beichner at her residence and she admitted that she was with the known juvenile and that the two of them smoked marijuana together at her residence, the complaint indicates.

Later that day, drug possession charges were filed against Beichner in a separate case.

Preliminary hearings in both cases are set for June 8 in Venango County Central Court.
