Oil City YMCA Announces Upcoming Youth Programming
OIL CITY, Pa. – The Oil City YMCA has announced upcoming programs for youth.

AQUATICS
GROUP SWIM LESSONS
Group Swim Lessons are held monthly for ages 6 months to 18 years old. Register by the 1st of the month.
ME & MY SHADOW—Infant & Parent Class
Tuesday/Thursday 6:05 pm to 6:35 pm
Saturday, 9:00 – 9:30am
BEGINNER—Assisted Swimmers; cannot swim alone.
Tuesday/Thursday 5:35 pm to 6:05 pm
Saturday 9:00 am—9:30 am
INTERMEDIATE—Swims unassisted in deep water with face in water.
Tuesday/Thursday 6:45 – 7:15 pm
Saturday 9:35—10:05 am
ADVANCED—Swims on back and front with rotary breathing.
Tuesday/Thursday 6:45 pm – 7:15 pm

Monthly Swim Lesson Class Cost:
- Family Memberships: $10/month

SATURDAY AFTERNOON POOL PARTY
Bring your family to the Y for family swim with inflatables! Family Swim will be held Saturdays from 4-5 pm. FREE to Members!
GYMNASTICS
FLIP ‘N DIP
A 30 minute gymnastics lesson followed by a 30 minute beginner swim lesson for ages 3-5. *Hint: Kids wear swimsuits for the gymnastics lesson for a quick transition. Parents must stay for the program to help with the transition. Register by the first of each month. Held Thursdays from 5-6:05 pm. Monthy fee: $30/Members; $45/Non-members.
TINY TUMBLERS PRE-K GYMNASTICS
Youth in Pre-K Gymnastics learn basic skills and fundamentals. This class introduces beam, bars, tumble track, vault and floor. Each class will consist of structured lessons and fun games. Pre-K Gymnastics meets Thursdays from 5:00—5:45 pm. Tiny Tumblers begins in December! Monthly Fee is $25/Members and $40/Non-Members.
FUNDAMENTAL GYMNASTICS
Youth are introduced to skills in bar, vault, beam and floor routines. For children ages 5+ wanting to pursue cheerleading and gymnastics, this program will help increase strength, flexibility and agility. Fundamental Gymnastics meets Tuesdays & Thursday from 5:30— 6:30 pm. Monthly fee is $40/Members; $60/Non-Members
NINJANASTICS
Introduces gymnastics, tumbling, Parkour and the thrill of American Ninja Warrior into a fun program while combining tumbling, climbing, getting through obstacles, and even some flips to increase body awareness, coordination, agility and motor skill levels. Held Tuesdays from 5:30—6:30 pm.. Ages 5-18, Monthly fee of $32/Members; $50/Non-Members
GYMNASTICS TEAM
The gymnastics team consists of gymnasts who have the desire to compete. The Oil City YMCA Tri-Stars compete at levels 2-9. Team practices are Tuesday/Thursday 5:30-7:30 pm and other times TBA. For more information, please call the Head Coach at 814-677-3000. Team Fee is $60 per month.
BOYS & GIRLS BASKETBALL CLINIC w/JODI GAULT
—Begins March 20 and is held 8 evenings
Instruction for girls and boys in grades 3-8 will include fundamentals of shooting, dribbling, passing, defense, rebounding. The program will also include 1-vs-1 contests, and 3-vs-3 contests, free throw shooting, hot spot shooting, and Mikan competitions. The clinic will take place March 20, 22, 28, 30 and April 3, 5, 10, 12 on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-7 pm. Jodi Gault is a former Pitt-Johnstown Women’s Basketball Coach and one of the most successful women’s basketball coaches in the NCAA Division II. She led Pitt-Johnstown to a 540-156 record in 25 years from 1982 – 2007. She has coached 20. All-Americans. Cost for the entire clinic (8 sessions): $60/members, $80/non-members; Each session price: $15/member, $25/non-member.
JR NBA YOUTH BASKETBALL
Held Saturdays beginning Saturday, January 14
Learn the fundamentals and skills of one of the fastest growing sports in the world… basketball! The Jr. NBA will introduce your child to the individual and team skills needed to be a successful basketball player. Those skills include; dribbling, passing, shooting, and individual and team defense. We will also be introducing more advanced skills this year such as; screening, moving without the ball, and help defense. The first three weeks of the program will be skill and knowledge building practices designed to ready youth athletes for competition. The final three weeks of the program will consist of games! Each child will receive a team t-shirt. Cost: $37/member and $57/non-member.
- Kindergarten: 9:00 a.m. start
- 1st and 2nd grade: 10:30 a.m. start
- 3rd through 5th grade: 12:00 pm start
- 6th through 8th grade: 1:15 pm
INDOOR SOCCER LEAGUE Begins March 4th
This is a six week indoor program. Ages 3-4 and 5-6 will participate in a developmental soccer program to improve fundamentals and understanding of the game. Grades 1—8 will participate in a competitive league. All players receive t-shirts to designate their team or group. $37/members and $57/non-members

- 1st through 3rd graders (12 pm start)

TAE KWON DO
Winter II Session: February 1—March 8
Classes meet on Wednesdays from 6:15—7:45 pm at the YMCA with Black Belt instructor Chris Blauser. Ages 6+ through adult. Six week session fee is $32 Members and $52 Non-Members
COMMUNITY YOUTH VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
The Community Youth Volunteer Program is open to Venango County youth between the ages of 10 and 18. Participants in the program earn “time dollars” for each hour they volunteer up to 80 hours in a calendar year. The “time dollars” are credited to the volunteer’s account at the rate of $4 an hour. The value of the hours volunteered can be redeemed for gift cards which can be used at participating area businesses. Call 814-677-3000.
TEEN ADVENTURE CLUB
Boys and girls age 12-18 will have opportunities to experience adventures like zip lining, hiking trips, kayaking, horseback riding, mountain biking, paintball and more. To participate in the adventure, members will earn the privilege by volunteering for service activities within the community. For more information contact Jen McClellan, Aquatics Director at 814-677-3000. New members always welcome. Adventure Club meets the first Wednesday of the month, 6 pm at the YMCA.
INTRO TO FITNESS—Teens Ages 12-15
Work out with a wellness coach in a fun and educational setting. The focus of the class will be on weight training and proper gym etiquette. This program meets on Thursdays from 3:00—3:30 pm. The class is limited to five participants. Please register in advance at the Member Services Desk to reserve a spot. Intro to Fitness is free to YMCA Members and non-members will pay $25 a month.
FREE FOOD PROGRAM
The Y feeds kids! The Free Food Program runs throughout the school year and is offered every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the YMCA for kids age 18 and under with enrichment activities offered from 5:30 – 6:30 pm. Registration is not required. Any child who shows up for food will be served.
