JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — According to Franklin-based State Police, around 7:40 p.m. on November 8, a one-vehicle crash occurred on Donation Hill Road, 1280 feet east of Wilson Mill Road, in Jackson Township, Venango County.

Police say 60-year-old Lawrence W. Melvin, of Cochranton, was traveling east on Donation Hill Road, rounding a right curve, and his 2013 Chrysler Town & Country crossed over the double yellow center line.

His vehicle proceeded to cross the oncoming lane and slid off the north side of the roadway. The vehicle’s undercarriage impacted the ground in the ditch and continued traveling east through the ditch. Then, the vehicle went up on the angled left side of the ditch, sideswiped two small trees, and eventually came to rest facing east on the right side of the left ditch, with the left side tires in the ditch, according to police.

Melvin was given a ride home by individuals who came upon the crash, and EMS was summoned to Melvin’s residence, police say.

He was then flown to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital for medical treatment.

The investigation of the crash continues.
