Phyllis Jean Knavel , 78, of Davis Rd. Fertigs, PA. went to be with Lord on Monday morning, Oct. 29, 2012 at the Oil City Presbyterian Home following an extended illness.

Born July 22, 1934 in Windber, she was the daughter of the late Stanley S. Shull & Kathryn A. McQuinn.

She was a graduate of Windber High School in 1952.

Phyllis was a homemaker and the owner of Knavel’s Arts & Crafts where she loved painting and making crafts.  She loved planting and growing flowers. She also loved to sing and she sang with the sweet Adeline’s. Her favorite pastime was doing counting cross stitch, stitching Santa’s to add to her many Santa’s she collected.

Phyllis was a member of the Pine City Free Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband Marlen L. Knavel . They celebrated 60 years of marriage this past September.

She is also survived by a brother Jack Shull of Chicago, IL; four children, Beata Miller & her husband Gene of Venus, Cloyd Knavel and his companion Darlene Merryman of Oil City, Roger Knavel of Venus, Eric Knavel & his wife Stacey of Venus; Five grandchildren Lynette Miller & her husband Mike of Oil City, Travis Miller & his wife Shawna of Cranberry, Greg & Emma Knavel of Oil City, Cora Knavel of Venus; Two great grandchildren, Niklos Kossman and Myah Miller.

Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Their will be no viewing or visitation. Services will take place at the convenience of the family.
