| May 27, 2022

CRANBERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A Franklin man is facing charges after police reportedly reviewed surveillance footage of him shoving a purse down his pants.

According to court documents, Franklin-based State Police filed the following criminal charges against 32-year-old Kody Allan Wilkins in Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey’s office on Tuesday, May 24:

– Theft Property Lost, Etc. By Mistake, Misdemeanor 2
– Receiving Stolen Property, Misdemeanor 2

According to a criminal complaint, police spoke with a known woman, who reported she left her orange Michael Kors hand purse in the Seneca Laundromat along South Main Street, in Seneca, Venango County.

The victim told police she was at the laundromat around 3:00 p.m. when she lost her purse. She stated that all of her bank cards and her driver’s license were inside the purse. When she went back to the laundromat at approximately 5:30 p.m., she could not find it, the complaint states.

Police received surveillance footage of the incident, which led to police identifying the actor to be Kody Wilkins. A trooper recognized him in the footage because he also has a case involving Wilkins. Subsequently, police identified Wilkins through his driver’s license photo, the complaint indicates.

In the footage, police observed Wilkins “look around the area” before taking the purse, and shoving it down his pants,” the complaint notes.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, June 22, at 1:30 p.m. with Judge Lowrey presiding.
