Police: Local Man Accused of Starting Brush Fire in Sugarcreek Borough Charged With Possessing Crystal Meth

SUGARCREEK BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – Police say a local man who reportedly started a brush fire in Sugarcreek Borough was charged with possessing crystal methamphetamine.

According to a release issued by the Sugarcreek Police Department on Monday, June 5, officers were dispatched to a brush fire in the 200 block of Allenbaugh Road in Sugarcreek Borough, Venango County, around 3:03 p.m. on Thursday, June 1.

Officers reportedly identified the person who started the fire as 51-year-old Todd A. Shoffstall, of Franklin.

It was also learned that Shoffstall was found to have outstanding warrants from the Venango County Court.

He was taken into custody by officers and searched incident to the arrest which resulted in recovering crystal methamphetamine in Shoffstall’s cigarette pack.

Shoffstall was turned over to the Venango County Sheriff’s Office and placed in the Venango County Prison on his outstanding warrant.

An arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday, June 6, at 10:30 a.m. in front of District Judge Matthew T. Kirtland on the following charges:

  • Intentional Possession Controlled Substance By Person Not Registered, Misdemeanor
  • Use/Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor, Misdemeanor
