FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — A Cooperstown man faces DUI charges following an incident that occurred in Franklin, Venango County.

Franklin Police say around 6:17 p.m. on June 15, officers were notified of an erratic driver in a black in color Ford pickup truck coming into the City of Franklin on Rocky Grove Avenue, allegedly “swerving in and out of his lane of travel, nearly colliding with another vehicle and nearly striking two pedestrians on the side of Grant Street.”

According to police, officers were notified that the black Ford pickup was last seen headed westbound on Pacific Street. Officers arrived in the area and discovered the pickup parked in a lawn in the 400 block of Grant Street.

The driver of the vehicle — 42-year-old Robert Leroy Keith, of Cooperstown — was still inside the vehicle, and the vehicle was still running. Keith was allegedly passed out in the driver’s seat, and several open containers of alcohol were seen inside the vehicle, police say.

Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that Keith was the only occupant inside the vehicle and had allegedly driven the vehicle to the location, according to police.

Keith was asked to perform standardized field sobriety testing to which he allegedly refused, police say.

According to online court documents, he faces the following charges:

  • DUI: General Impairment/Incompetent of Driving Safely — 1st Offense
  • Restrictions on Alcoholic Beverages

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on July 22 in Venango County Central Court in front of Magisterial District Judge Michael D. Snyder.
