Police Release Details on Forest County Crash

FOREST COUNTY, Pa. (EYT) – Marienville-based State Police have released details surrounding a recent accident in Harmony Township, Forest County.

Police say the accident happened around 5:15 a.m. on February 17 on State Route 127, south of Trunkeyville Road.

According to police, 41-year-old Thomas J. Byers of Tidioute was traveling northbound on SR 127 and lost control of his 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 due to icy road conditions.

The vehicle crossed the center line and entered the southbound lane of SR 127, then traveled off the western side of the roadway and traveled approximately 96′ in a northbound direction before impacting a tree which was situated approximately 10′ west of the roadway, police say.

Byers was using a seat belt.

He suffered a minor head injury and Tionesta Ambulance transported him Titusville Hospital.

His vehicle sustained severe front end damage and was towed from the scene by Frank’s Towing.

Byers was charged with a traffic violation.
