Police Release Information on Pursuit That Ended in Meadville on Saturday

ATHENS TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Corry-based State Police have released the details of a police pursuit that ended in Meadville on Saturday evening.

Around 7:56 p.m. on Saturday, November 20, Corry-based State Police initiated a traffic stop on a 2008 Audi A6 on State Route 77 just west of Centerville Road in Athens Township, Crawford County.

Police say the vehicle failed to stop, and a pursuit ensued during which police observed the driver of the Audi committing several traffic violations.

The pursuit reportedly traveled on State Route 77, State Route 408, Gravel Run Road, and south on State Route 86, where it ended at the intersection of State Route 19 and Mercer Street in the City of Meadville.

According to police, a successful Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) was used to bring the pursuit to an end, and the driver and passenger were apprehended uninjured.

Police say charges are pending against 37-year-old Michael Smith, of Windsor, Ohio, and 31-year-old Amanda Griffith, of Orwell, Ohio, in relation to the incident.
