Police Respond to Two-Vehicle Crash in Jackson Township

JACKSON TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Police say a crash occurred on State Route 965 on Monday morning after a Franklin man failed to yield the right of way and struck a truck.

According to Mercer-based State Police, around 7:32 a.m. on Monday, September 21, a two-vehicle crash occurred on Franklin Road at its intersection with Springfield Church Road, Jackson Township, Mercer County.

Police say 28-year-old Patrick E. Weiger, of Franklin, was operating a 2008 Chevrolet Impala, traveling north on Springfield Church Road, approaching the intersection with State Route 965/Franklin Road, while a 2013 Dodge RAM, operated by 25-year-old Gage A. Priester, of Clark, Pa., was traveling west on Franklin Road approaching the intersection with Springfield Church Road.

According to police, Weiger stopped at the posted stop sign on Springfield Church Road while Priester continued straight through the intersection. Weiger then failed to yield the right of way to traffic already in the roadway and entered the intersection, striking Priester’s vehicle. Both vehicles then came to a final rest on the shoulders of the roadway.

No injuries were reported.

Both vehicles sustained disabling damage in the crash.

Weiger was cited for a traffic control device violation.
