Police Respond to Vehicle Fire in Plum Township

PLUM TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police and fire personnel responded to a vehicle fire that occurred in Plum Township early Tuesday morning.

According to police, around 12:27 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25, a vehicle fire occurred on State Route 428/Wallaceville Road just north of Buxton Road in Plum Township.

Police say 36-year-old Melissa Pinkerton, of Titusville, was operating a 2011 GM Acadia, traveling north on State Route 428, when she noticed a burning smell coming from the vehicle, and the vehicle started to fill with smoke. She then pulled the vehicle into a gravel area off the roadway as it began to catch fire.

Pinkerton was able to exit the vehicle before it became fully engulfed in flames.

No injuries were reported.

Chapmanville Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene.
