SUGARCREEK BOROUGH, Pa. (ETY) — Police say a Sugarcreek man is facing charges for operating a UTV while under the influence in Sugarcreek Borough.

According to Sugarcreek Borough Police Department, around 9:32 p.m. on December 31, 2020, during a patrol, officers noted a blue UTV traveling at a high rate of speed on Causeway Drive near Sugarcreek Drive on roads that are not designated ATV roads.

The officers then located the UTV after it had pulled into a driveway in the 400 block of Sugarcreek Drive and spoke to the driver.

Police say the driver, identified as 38-year-old Jason Lewis, of Sugarcreek, had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on him as well as other outward signs of impairment. He was then asked to perform field sobriety testing.

According to police, Lewis performed poorly on the testing and was subsequently taken into custody for suspicion of DUI.

Lewis’s blood test results from NMS Labs later showed he had operated the vehicle while impaired on cocaine and alcohol, according to police.

Charges of DUI, driving on a suspended license, and multiple summary violations for the operation of the UTV on public roadways are pending.
