Richard F. Parson, 84, of 129 Cherry Run Road, Rouseville, died at 5:25 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at the Oil City Presbyterian Home.

Born Feb. 22, 1928, in Oil City, he was the son of the late James H. Parson and Katherine Vernon Parson.

Mr. Parson attended Oil City schools.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy.

He was married Jan. 19, 1949, in the Oil City Presbyterian Church to Ethel L. Motter, and she survives.

Mr. Parson was the service manager at Seneca Motors for many years.

He was a member of Seneca United Methodist Church.

Richard enjoyed bowling and golfing.

He is also survived by two sons, Randy and Linda Parson of Oil City and Gary and Mary Parson, also of Oil City; four grandchildren, Wendy Parson, Jodi Robertson and her husband, Dan, Trevor Parson and his wife, Terri, and Susan Huffman and her husband, Mark; and eight great-grandchildren, Abigail, Abraham, Trevor Jr., Taylor, Tanner, Tate, Jessica and Zachary.

Also surviving are two sisters, Colleen Ruhlman of Greenville and Carol Sutch of Rouseville; a brother, Robert Parson of Franklin; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Corbin and Alice Stempin; and three brothers, James Parson, Billy Parson and Harry Parson.

There will be no viewing or visitation.

Private visitation and funeral services will be held at the Reinsel Funeral Home & Crematory in Oil City with the Rev. William Hastings, pastor of Seneca United Methodist Church, presiding.

Interment will take place in Brandon Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Seneca United Methodist Church or Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.
