OIL CITY, Pa. — A resurfacing project that will improve two roadways in Venango County started on June 10.

Resurfacing work will be done of the following portions of roadway:

  • Route 8 — near the Venango/Butler county line in Irwin Township and Barkeyville Borough; 1 mile.
  • Innis Street and Innis Street Extension (Route 2027) — from the intersection with Route 257 in Cranberry Township to the intersection with West First Street in Oil City; 1.5 miles.

Work will include milling and overlay, drainage, as well as updated ADA curb ramps, guide rail, and pavement markings.

No detour is anticipated with this project, though motorists may encounter traffic controlled by flaggers.

The contractor is Sharon Paving and Construction Co., of Sharpsville, PA. The contract cost is $1,309,000, which is to be paid entirely with state funds.

The project is made possible by Act 89, Pennsylvania’s transportation funding plan.

Work started June 10, 2019, and is scheduled for completion by September 13, 2019, weather permitting.

PennDOT urges motorists to slow down when driving in work zones, and also to be alert to changing conditions, avoid distractions and to pay attention to signs and flaggers. Drive responsibly in work zones for your safety and the safety of the workers.
