Robert Grant Conrad, 87, of Brookville, formerly of New Bethlehem, died Sunday, January 27, 2013, at Brookside Senior Living Center in Brookville.

Born April 7 1925, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of Earl Ovid and Susan Reichel Conrad.

He married Mary Mielke of Wampum, on May 23, 1949. She preceded him in death in June 2003.

Robert was a wounded World War II 5th Army infantry veteran who fought through much of the Italian campaign.

He was a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania and received a master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh.

Robert was employed as a teacher at the Redbank Valley High School for 26 years until his retirement in 1978.

Survivors include two daughters, Dr. Susan Connor and her husband, Paul, of Sigel, and Christine Lampe and her husband, Michael, of St. Marys; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

There will be no visitation. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Beautiful Lookout, Armstrong County.
