Ruth G. “Pudy” Crawford

Ruth G. “Pudy” Crawford, age 87, of New Bethlehem (Cottage Hill), died early Sunday morning, April 28, 2013 at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh, following a sudden illness.

Born December 18, 1925 in Salem, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Rosella Reichard Troutman.

She married Boyd E. “Wimp” Crawford on October 20, 1945 and he survives. They were married for 66 years.

Ruth worked for Sylvania for 10 years and retired from Hilliard’s Hardware in New Bethlehem.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of New Bethlehem for 64 years, a member of the Eastern Starr and the Arts and Crafts Club in New Bethlehem.

Ruth was an avid walker in earlier years and enjoyed golfing.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter: Kathy Bish and her husband, Fred, of Summerville; Four grandchildren: Courtney Bish, Dyson Bish, Bailey Carberry and Talon Bish. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her sister and brother, Martha Hilliard and Dewayne Troutman.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at the Rupert Funeral Home and Cremation Service Chapel, 233 Penn Street, New Bethlehem.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013 in the First United Methodist Church, 234 Penn Street, New Bethlehem. Reverend Jodie Smith, a pastor of the Redbank Valley United Methodist Ministry, will officiate over the service.

Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery on Beautiful Lookout, Redbank Township, Armstrong County.

Memorial contributions may be given in the name of Ruth G. Crawford to the First United Methodist Church, 234 Penn Street, New Bethlehem, PA 16242.
