Ruth Irene Allen Gegogeine, 89, of Reno, went to be with Our Lord and Savior at The Caring Place in Franklin on Sunday, March 18, 2012, with her family by her side.

Born January 19, 1923, she was a daughter of the late John W. and Alice Rossman Allen.

Ruth was a 1939 graduate of Rocky Grove High School.

She as employed at Joy Manufacturing until 1951 when she resigned to raise her family.

Ruth was a lifelong member of the Reno United Methodist Church, having been enrolled on the “Cradle Roll” of the church as an infant. She always enjoyed her church, singing in the choir as she grew up and having taught a number of years in the Sunday School Elementary Department. She was a member of the Women’s Society and served as the financial secretary of the church for many years.

Music was an important part of her life. She was well known as the organist for the Reno Church for many years. She played the violin and was an accomplished pianist. She also played the trumpet in the Reno Volunteer Fire Department Band.

Ruth was married on May 8, 1948 in the Reno United Methodist Church to Glenn I. Gegogeine, who survives. Ruth and Glenn will always be remembered for their loving commitment to one another. They would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary this year.

Along with her loving husband Glenn, she is survived by two sons, Gregory F. Gegogeine and wife Sally of Noblesville IN, and Garry A. Gegogeine and wife Charlotte of Franklin; a special family friend whom was more like a daughter, Betsy Kellner and husband Dave of Seneca; and seven grandchildren, Grant Gegogeine, Greta Gegogeine, Aaron Allen, Brandon Allen, Sarah Allen, David Kellner and Jill Kellner.

Also surviving are three sisters-in-law, Irene Allen, Phyllis Stover and Doris Gegogeine.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Glenda Kay “Glendy” Gegogeine in 1968, a sister, Edith Jane Smith and a brother Albert R. Allen.

The family will receive friends at The Caring Place on Wednesday from 1 to 2 pm.

Funeral services will be conducted in The Caring Place at 2 pm Wednesday with the Rev. Alice Jean Parker, pastor of the Reno United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Linda Deeter, chaplain at The Caring Place, officiating.

Interment will be in the Reno Cemetery.

The Morrison Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Reno United Methodist Church of the Reno Volunteer Fire Department.
