Sandwich Causes Crash in Cooperstown

COOPERSTOWN, Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police say around 12:55 p.m. on January 10, a one-car accident occurred on Academy Street, West of Bradleytown Road, in Cooperstown, Venango County.

According to police, 45-year-old Seth S. Johnson of Cooperstown was traveling east on Academy Street, and he dropped a sandwich on the floor.

As he bent down to pick it up, his 1998 Lincoln Continental swerved off the north side of the road and struck a utility pole, police say.

Johnson was using a seat belt and suffered minor injuries.

Police say he will be cited for careless driving.

Cooperstown Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
