School Bus Driver, 25 Students Transported to Local Hospitals Following Rollover Crash

HYDETOWN BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) — A school bus driver and 25 students were transported to local hospitals following a rollover crash on Route 408 on Monday morning.

According to Corry-based State Police, the accident happened around 7:29 a.m. on Monday, April 25, on State Route 408, in Hydetown Borough, Crawford County, involving a 2013 Bluebird International Vision School Bus.

Police say while traveling east down a hill on Route 408, the operator, 72-year-old Sandra E. Vroman, of Titusville, left the right side of the roadway, and the bus traveled into a deep berm.

Vroman steered out of the berm, causing her to lose control of the bus. It traveled across both lanes of travel and struck an embankment and small tree off the westbound lane of travel. After impact, the bus overturned on its right side coming to a final rest against a tree.

All passengers (25 students) were transported to local hospitals via ambulance to be evaluated. Minor to no injuries were reported at the scene for the students.

Vroman was transported to Titusville Hospital via ambulance for suspected moderate injuries.

She was using a seat belt.

She was charged with a traffic violation.

The bus sustained heavy disabling damage and was towed from the scene by Shambaugh’s Towing.

According to police, the following agencies assisted at the scene: Hydetown Volunteer Fire Department, Townville Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Service, Titusville Fire Department, Bloomfield Ambulance Service, Centerville Ambulance Service, Emergency Care Ambulance, and Spartansburg Ambulance Service.
