Senior Spotlight: Oil City’s Hunter Wood Headed to U.S. Marine Corps
ith graduation ceremonies being affected by the Coronavirus Pandemic, Explore Your Town, Inc. and several area businesses have teamed up to help recognize local high school seniors. Today’s featured graduating senior is Hunter Wood.

Tell us about yourself: I have recently enlisted in the Marine Corps, which I cannot wait to leave for. Even though I can’t enjoy my senior year outside, I still find ways to smile and laugh with friends. I try to be optimistic in these rough times. Here’s to an amazing future for all my fellow seniors!
School activities and sports: Football, Cross-country, welding engineer vo-tech
Favorite teacher: Steve Luxbacher
Favorite subject: Science
Favorite memories from school: 7th grade Mr. Logue’s class!
Future plans: Marine Corps
Advice for future students: No matter how boring it seems, get your work done. You may not be the first in your family to graduate but you can be the first with straight A’s.
Pets: Maverick (German shepherd)
Favorite joke: What’s red, tastes good and is bad for you? A brick.

What is your least favorite cafeteria food? The Mac Attack
Is cereal soup? Could be. Soup is hot but if you want to get technical it’s only soup if you make it soup.

Thank you’s: My mother Kim Boone for everything she has done for me. My aunt Brandy Hinojosa for all the inspiration she has given me. My stepfather Jeremiah Boone for always being there. My cousin Raymond Hinojosa for being my best friend from day one. My grandparents Tina Eckley and Karen Boone and Ernie Boone for loving me even when I was a nuisance.
