State Police Calls: DUI Incidents, Drug Possession, Deer-Related Crash

VENANGO CO., Pa. (EYT) – Franklin-based State Police responded to the following calls:

DUI in Oil City

Around 10:15 p.m. on April 24, Franklin-based State Police initiated a traffic stop on a 2006 Chevrolet on Cooper Avenue near Warren Street in Oil City, Venango County, for a traffic violation.

Police say the driver, identified as a 55-year-old Venus woman was subsequently placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI.

Charges are pending lab test results.

DUI/Drug Possession in Cornplanter Township

According to police, around 9:09 p.m. on April 30, a 2012 Ford Focus was stopped for a traffic violation on Rockwood Avenue near Oak Road in Cornplanter Township, Venango County.

Police say the driver, identified as a 28-year-old Oil City woman was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance, and a subsequent search of the vehicle also yielded a small amount of marijuana.

Charges are pending lab test results.

Deer-Related Crash in Sandycreek Township

According to police, around 11:09 p.m. on Saturday, May 1, a deer-related crash occurred on State Route 8 just south of North Pecan Drive in Sandycreeek Township, Venango County.

Police say 34-year-old Mark T. Sonnenberg, of Titusville, was operating a 2021 Volkswagen Golf traveling north on State Route 8 when the vehicle struck a deer that was lying in the roadway.

Sonnenberg and his passenger, identified as 34-year-old Stephanie M. Sonnenberg, of Titusville, were both using seat belts and no injuries were reported.
