State Police Calls: Stolen Identity, Forgery, Crash

Franklin-based State Police responded to the following calls:

Stolen Identity

State Police in Franklin are investigating a report of identity theft involving a 34-year-old Seneca woman.

According to a May 11 release, the victim told police that she contacted the unemployment office when she did not receive her $200 unemployment check. The office related to the victim that there was a debit card issued with the $200 already on it. The victim stated that she never received a debit card for unemployment.

The unemployment office instructed the victim to report the incident to the police.

The investigation is ongoing.


Franklin-based State Police spoke with an individual at the barracks, who reported a theft/fraud that occurred to her on Tuesday, March 8.

According to police, it was learned through investigation that an unknown actor(s) forged and old check that had already been cashed.

It was learned that an unknown actor(s) also submitted a fraudulent check under the victim’s name without permission.

The investigation is ongoing.

Vehicle vs. Deer Collision

Franklin-based State Police responded to a one-car accident in Irwin Township on Monday, May 9.

According to police, the crash occurred when 66-year-old Donald H. Lawrence was traveling westbound in the right lane of Interstate 80 on Monday, May 9, around 8:33 p.m.

While Lawrence was traveling west near near mile marker 31.8, in Irwin Township, Venango County, a deer entered the roadway from the south Lawrence’s vehicle subsequently struck it. The vehicle continued approximately one mile west along I-80 before pulling into a nearby rest stop.

No injuries were reported.

Both Lawrence and the passenger were wearing safety belts at the time of the crash.
