State Police Seeking Information on Theft of AK-47 Rifles from Rural King in Sugarcreek Borough

SUGARCREEK BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – State Police in Franklin are asking the public for information on the theft of two AK-47-style rifles from Rural King in Sugarcreek Borough that occurred early Saturday morning.

On Saturday, May 13, around 2:25 a.m., PSP Franklin responded to an alarm at Rural King located at 491 Allegheny Blvd., in Sugarcreek Borough, Venango County. Upon arrival, it was discovered that someone had forcibly entered the store and smashed a display case containing handguns.

According to police, surveillance camera footage revealed a black male actor had entered the store on May 13 at 1:42 a.m. and attempted to smash the display case in order to gain access to the handguns inside. The actor ultimately stole two AK-47-style rifles from the display rack and fled the store on foot towards Front Street.

The actor was wearing a black mask, black pants, a black hoodie, and white tennis shoes.

The investigation is ongoing.
