Crawford County Bat Tests Positive for Rabies

A Rabies Alert has been issued in Crawford County.

Location – Pine Road, Conneaut Lake, Vernon Township, Crawford County

Summary – A bat that was unable to fly was found on the sidewalk of a home. The bat was killed and submitted to the Pennsylvania Veterinary Laboratory where it tested positive for rabies.

Exposure – No humans or domestic animals were exposed to the bat.

Rabies Law – Pennsylvania law requires all dogs and non-feral cats three months of age and older to be vaccinated against rabies. Booster vaccinations must be administered periodically to maintain lifelong immunity. Failure to comply with the law may result in a fine of up to $300.
