CRANBERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police say a car hit a fence then slammed into a tree along Route 157 in Cranberry Township late last week.

According to police, around 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, a one-vehicle crash occurred on State Route 157 at its intersection with Heckathorn Church Road in Cranberry Township.

Police say a known 17-year-old male from Oil City was operating a 2008 Pontiac Vibe, traveling west on State Route 157, negotiating a right curve, when the driver lost control on the wet roadway, traveled off the side of the road and struck a fence.

The vehicle then continued west along the road and struck a tree with its front end, then spun 90 degrees counterclockwise and came to a final rest on the shoulder of the westbound lane.

The teen driver was wearing a seatbelt. He suffered “possible injuries” but was not transported.

He was cited for a speed violation.

Seneca Volunteer Fire Department and Venango Towing and Recovery assisted at the scene.
