TIONESTA BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – A second Tionesta teen has been charged in relation to a burglary that occurred at an area business earlier this month.

Court documents indicate the Marienville-based State Police filed criminal charges against 18-year-old Gabrielle Jane Smith.

The charges stem from an investigation into a break-in that occurred at a Forest County business earlier this month.

According to a criminal complaint, around 7:07 a.m. on Wednesday, August 7, Tpr. Thorpe of the Marienville-based State Police was dispatched to a business on Faulkner Drive in Tionesta Borough for a report of a burglary.

According to the complaint, the victim reported that sometime between 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6, and 5:40 a.m. on Wednesday, August 7, an individual or individuals entered the business through a window and stole multiple items, including a glass barometer, assorted food, cigarettes, decor, cooking equipment, cash, and the register drawer. The victim noted the register drawer was found in a dumpster nearby.

Trooper Collett, of the Marienville-based State Police, was later informed by Forest County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Carbaugh and a Forest County Juvenile Probation Officer that an individual named Zachary Mangum may have been involved in the incident.

Around 12:23 p.m., Trooper Collett interviewed Mangum at his residence.

Mangum allegedly said he was at the scene of the burglary but didn’t go inside the business. He related that two known juveniles broke into the business while he stayed outside. He then left the scene, according to the complaint.

Around 11:37 a.m. on Monday, August 12, Trooper Collett interviewed Mangum’s father at his residence. Mangum’s father stated that after Trooper Collett left the residence on August 7 Mangum admitted that he broke into the business.

Corporal Lencer, of the Marienville-based State Police, interviewed Mangum again on Tuesday, August 13. Mangum allegedly stated he witnessed the burglary and reported that Gabrielle Smith was the individual who entered the business and stole the items, the complaint states.

Corporal Lencer then interviewed Smith, who allegedly admitted she had been present during the burglary, but that she did not enter the building. She reported that she watched as Mangum committed the burglary in the presence of the two known juveniles, the complaint indicates.

Smith was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Daniel L. Miller at 8:40 p.m. on August 14 on the following charges:

– Burglary – Not Adapted for Overnight Accommodation, No Person Present, Felony 2 (two counts)
– Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Misdemeanor 1 (two counts)
– Receiving Stolen Property, Misdemeanor 1

Unable to post $35,000.00 monetary bail, she was lodged in the Warren County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28, with Magisterial District Judge Laura S. Bauer presiding.
