polmThomas L. Polm, a longtime resident of Rockland, passed away Monday night, November 25, 2019 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca.

He was born in Oil City on July 21, 1939 to the late Kenneth and Maria (Hetzler) Polm.

Tom was a 1957 graduate of Oil City High School.

He was affiliated with Christ Fellowship Church in Venus.

In his earlier years, he enjoyed riding motorcycles. Tom loved hunting, fishing, and swimming. Favorite family activities were riding motorcycles and having a winter get-away together. Tom always felt that everyone needed a get-away in February. He cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his morning devotion time with his wife and his son, before they started each day.

Mr. Polm was employed by Seneca Lanes, and was also a truck driver for Quaker State Refinery in Emlenton for several years. Following his employment with Quaker State, he began his own business in undercoating vehicles.

He was married in Greensboro, North Carolina on August 30, 1958 to the former Helen Tenney, and she survives. They recently celebrated 61 years of marriage together.

In addition to his wife, Helen, he is survived by two children, Candy Polm Rodgers and her husband Dale of Cochranton, and K. Robert “Bobby” Polm of Rockland; three grandchildren: Brian Thomas Rodgers and wife Andrea of Conneaut Lake, Amy Marie Custead and husband Jonathan of Cochranton, and Robin MacDonald and husband Blake of Apollo; two great-granddaughters, Ainsley Rodgers and Avery MacDonald; and was awaiting the birth of a great-grandson, Lane Custead, arriving in January.

Also surviving are his sisters-in-law, Eva Sottiaux, Ruth Sottiaux, Doris Schwab, Bev Tenney, Peggy Tenney, and Sally Tenney; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister; and his brothers-in-law: Robert, Bud, and Larry Tenney, and Conrad and LeJay Sottiaux.

The family will receive friends on Friday (Nov. 29) from 2 — 4 and 6 — 8 p.m. and on Saturday (Nov. 30) from 10-11 a.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township.

A service to celebrate Tom’s life will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Pastor Rich Tygert of Christ Fellowship Church will officiate.

Interment will be in Rockland Cemetery.
