OAKLAND TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police say a Titusville man lost control of his vehicle and struck an embankment off State Route 417 late Friday morning.

According to Franklin-based State Police, the accident occurred around 10:37 a.m. on Friday, July 11, on Route 417, just north of Billingsley Road, in Oakland Township, Venango County.

Police say 20-year-old Colin L. Hofmeister, of Titusville, was operating a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu, traveling south on State Route 417, when he lost control of the vehicle on the wet roadway while negotiating a right hand curve.

The vehicle then crossed over the center line and entered the northbound lane. Hofmeister attempted to regain control but overcorrected, and the vehicle traveled off the left side of the road and struck an embankment with its front end. It then traveled backward along the ditch along the northbound lane and came to a final rest facing north, according to police.

Hofmeister was using a seat belt and was not injured.
