CORNPLANTER TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — Police say around 1:54 p.m. on June 28, two people were injured in a one-vehicle accident that occurred on Cherry Run Road (Route 227), 2953 feet north of Moody Run Road, in Cornplanter Township, Venango County.

According to Franklin-based State Police, a 17-year-old Seneca female was traveling on Route 227, attempting to negotiate a right curve in the road. She lost control of her 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier on the wet roadway due to the condition of a rear tire and possibly the power steering failing.

The vehicle proceeded across the oncoming lane of traffic, rotated 180 degrees, and struck a pole on the passenger’s side, disabling the vehicle, police say.

The 17-year-old and a passenger — 20-year-old Phillip A. Anthony, of Titusville — were both transported to UPMC Northwest.

The extent of their injuries are unknown.

The teen was charged with a traffic violation, according to police.
