VENANGO CO., Pa. (EYT) — At the Venango County Commissioners’ meeting, the director of Two Mile Run County Park announced the park will be open for appropriate recreation options.

Luke Kaufman, the Director of Two Mile Run County Park, told the Venango County Commissioners the park is “business as usual” for recreation activities.

The meeting was broadcast live on Zoom from the Venango County Courthouse Annex with all three commissioners in the same room practicing social distancing.

“Things are pretty much as good as they can be right now,” Kaufman said. “As you know, we canceled all of our April events out here, but fishing is open, hiking is open, all the trails are still open for hiking and biking as well.”

Breene said it is important to keep the park open.

“I know that it’s important that people are able to get out, of course, at a safe distance from one another at this time to use the park,” Breene said.

Breene said some measures have been taken to limit social interaction.

“We have closed down the playgrounds and also the pavilions,” Breene said. “I know (Luke) has also been working really hard to make sure that people know when they are fishing out there that they are not gathered and packed together in large groups so they can enjoy trout season. They can enjoy fishing for the other fish out there. They have to do it while keeping social distance.”

Kaufman said signs are posted saying those things around the park for fishermen, hikers, and others.
