Two-Year-Old Boy, Other Occupants Injured Following Two-Vehicle Collision on Route 257

CRANBERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A two-year-old boy was injured after the SUV he was riding in was struck by a minivan on State Route 257 on Tuesday evening.

According to Franklin-based State Police, the crash occurred at 5:14 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29, at the intersection of State Route 257 and Innis Street in Cranberry Township, Venango County.

Police say a 2005 Infiniti QX56 driven by 42-year-old Shannon L. Kinstler, of Erie, was turning left off Innis Street onto Route 257 when Kinstler “failed to yield” to a 2016 Dodge Caravan operated by 80-year-old James C. Mitchell, of Pleasantville.

The SUV was struck by the minivan and spun 90 degrees counterclockwise, coming to final rest in the center of Route 257.

Kinstler suffered injuries of unknown severity and was transported to UPMC Northwest by Community Ambulance Service.

Kinstler’s passenger—a two-year-old Erie male—suffered suspected minor injuries and was transported to UPMC Northwest by Reno VFD Ambulance.

Another passenger in Kinstler’s vehicle—a 12-year-old Erie male—was not injured.

Mitchell was not injured; however, his passenger—77-year-old Carolyn A. Blauser, of Seneca—suffered injuries of unknown severity. She was transported to UPMC Northwest by Community Ambulance Service.

All occupants were using seat belts.

According to police, Kinstler was charged with a traffic violation.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Venango Towing and Recovery.
