U.S. News Ranks Clarion University Online Graduate Programs Among Best for Veterans

| May 24, 2014

U.S. News & World Report has released its 2014 Best Online Programs for Veterans, ranking Clarion University’s Master of Business Administration 38th and Master of Education 28th in the country.

“Veterans and active-duty service members face unique challenges as students, from transitioning between bases and grappling with deployment to balancing work and family life upon return,” said Robert Morse, director of data research for U.S. News. “The Best Online Programs for Veterans are high-quality programs that also offer educational benefits and flexibility for veterans pursuing a degree.”

Those programs were assessed for various factors, including affordability, faculty credentials, student services and reputation. Only regionally accredited, degree-granting programs that were predominantly online were considered. U.S. News & World Report developed the Best Online Programs for Veterans to help the thousands of returning veterans and active-duty service members pursue college or advanced degrees under the Post-911 GI Bill.

“We developed these rankings to help (veterans) find top-quality institutions and programs that also offer federal benefits that ease the burden of applying, paying for and completing a degree,” said Brian Kelly, editor and chief content officer of U.S. News.

“I was looking for a smaller school with a strong business program that was supportive of veterans,” said Paul Yi, a veteran who graduated in May with a marketing degree.

“I searched online for a military-friendly school, and Clarion was the first school to pop up. I checked it out and found it had everything I was looking for.”

Clarion’s online MBA program is ranked 38th nationally, and it is U.S. News’ top-ranked program in Pennsylvania. Clarion’s College of Business Administration and its MBA program are fully accredited by the National Association to Advance College Schools of Business. In addition to the online MBA, traditional and 11-month programs are available.

Also top-ranked in Pennsylvania, Clarion’s online Master of Education program is ranked 28th nationally. The program offers a wide variety of concentrations taught by esteemed faculty, who use their expertise and experience to help students achieve their professional goals.

Clarion University also offers online programs for certificate, associate, bachelor’s and master’s programs, as well as its first doctorate program, Doctor of Nursing Practice. All programs are approved for the GI Bill.

For the sixth consecutive year, Clarion University has been named to the coveted Military Friendly SchoolsR list. The Military Friendly SchoolsR list honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans, and spouses as students and ensure their success on campus. Multiple resources are available to Clarion’s student veterans, including the Student Veterans Association, which exists to support veterans in the cultural transition from military service to higher education.

Clarion University is the high-achieving, nationally recognized, comprehensive university that delivers a personal and challenging academic experience.
