Crowds returned downtown on Saturday evening for family friendly fun and entertainment. The festivities started at 4:00 p.m. inside Bandstand Park where children lined up for their turn on Santa’s lap. Grown-ups and families gathered on the sidewalks along Liberty Street for a performance by Tammi Dahl Matthews before the parade, which began at 6:00 p.m.. The evening culminated in the lighting of the Christmas tree in front of the Venango County Courthouse, followed by a firework display above Fountain Park.
Along with the main festivities, Light Up Night offered daytime activities all over town, including a craft show at Sandycreek Elementary School, an “open house” in Franklin’s Downtown shops, a Cookie Walk at teh Franklin Public Library, and children’s storytime at Amy’s Closet. There were even train rides in Bandstand Park courtesy of Jones Party Magic.
An announcement of the winners of the Light Up Night parade is forthcoming.
