Two Injured After Vehicle is Forced Off Roadway by Pickup Truck, Strikes Ditch

JACKSON TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Two individuals suffered minor injuries after a pickup truck reportedly ran their vehicle off the roadway, causing it to striking a ditch in Jackson Township. 

According to Mercer-based State Police, the crash occurred around 2:40 p.m. on Friday, July 22, along South Foster Road, in Jackson Township, Mercer County.

Police say a 2004 Mitsubishi Outlander driven by 43-year-old Julie R. Smolnik, of Grove City, was traveling north on South Foster Road when the accident happened.

According to Smolnik, a “red dually pickup truck” approached, traveling south and partially in her lane, forcing her to move to the right berm to avoid a collision.

Smolnik’s vehicle traveled off the roadway at the four-way intersection of South Foster Road and Millbrook Road, striking a ditch.

Smolnik and her passenger, a 13-year-old juvenile male, of Grove City, both reported suspected minor injuries, but were not transported.

No further details were released.
