Utica Woman to Be Sentenced for DUI

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — A Utica woman involved in a traffic crash in Canal Township last fall will be sentenced next week for driving under the influence.

According to court documents, 77-year-old Carol Davis, of Utica, pleaded guilty on March 19 to one count of DUI General Impairment/Incompetent of Driving Safely, first offense.

Her sentencing is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 3.

Charges of DUI: High Rate of Alcohol (Bac.10 – <.16) 1st Offense and Careless Driving were dismissed as a result of the guilty plea. According to Franklin-based State Police, on September 23, 2017, Davis was driving a 2007 Toyota RAV4 south on Utica Road when she hit a deer that had entered the highway. After the collision, Davis brought the vehicle to a stop along the edge of the road. She was using a seat belt and was not injured. Sugarcreek Borough Police and Lowry Towing assisted at the scene.
