Vehicle Catches Fire, Slams into Parked Car in Oil City

fire_truckOIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) – Authorities in Oil City say a local man crashed into a parked car yesterday after his vehicle caught fire while he was driving in Oil City, Venango County.

According to police, the incident occurred around 10:11 p.m. on January 25, as Stacey Dunkle, of Oil City, was driving a 1998 GMC Jimmy on Hone Avenue.

Police say Dunkle started smelling smoke, and as he turned onto Bishop Avenue, he noticed flames coming from under his dash.

Before Dunkle could get the vehicle stopped, he crashed into a parked car owned by John Sneltzer, according to police.

The Oil City Fire Department responded and extinguished the vehicle.

Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and were towed by Venango Towing, police say.
