JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — One person was injured following an accident on State Route 427, west of Rogers Road, in Jackson Township, Venango County.

Franklin-based State Police say the accident happened around 9:20 a.m. on March 18 when William N. Griffin, 23, of Cooperstown was traveling north on SR 427 at approximately 45 to 50 miles per hour and lost control of his 2013 Subaru Impreza, leaving the roadway and striking a tree just before Rogers Road.

Police say Griffin was able to free himself as the vehicle caught fire. The vehicle was eventually engulfed in flames, police say.

Griffin was using a seat belt and suffered minor injuries.

Community Ambulance transported him to UPMC Northwest hospital for treatment.

A traffic citation was filed through Magisterial District Judge Andrew Fish’s office for “Driving vehicle at safe speed.”
