Vehicle Rear-Ended on Route 157 After Stopping for School Bus With Lights Activated

CRANBERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — State Police in Franklin released the details of a crash that occurred on State Route 157 in Cranberry Township, Venango County.

According to a release issued by PSP Franklin on December 1, the accident happened around 3:53 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8.

A 2003 Ford Mustang driven by 73-year-old Lawrence R. Delair Jr., of Parker, was slowing down for a stopped school bus in the opposite direction with its stop lights activated, according to police.

Police say a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado operated by 60-year-old Samuel S. Sheats, of Oil City, failed to stop and struck the Mustang as they were both traveling west on State Route 157.

After being struck, the Mustang traveled approximately 150 yards into a yard located along State Route 157.

Delair suffered suspected minor injuries and was taken to UPMC Northwest by Community Ambulance Service.

Sheats was not injured.

Both occupants were using seat belts.

According to police, Sheats was charged with a traffic violation.
