Velma Louise Cardy, 84, a resident of 40 Gilfillan Street, Franklin died peacefully at 10:15 PM Sunday, June 29, 2014 in The Golden Living Center of Oil City; following a period of declining health.

She was born September 2, 1929 in Franklin, a beloved daughter of the late: Edward J. and Isabelle Iva Andrews Rial.

She was a 1947 graduate of Rocky Grove High School.

Mrs. Cardy had worked for many years in the accounting department of Joy Manufacturing Company of Franklin; retiring from there in 1992.

She took great pride in her Rocky Grove home. She especially enjoyed her plants and trees. As her health permitted she looked forward to travelling.

She was a member of the Fox Street Church of God.

She was married on September 20, 1950 in the Rocky Grove Avenue Presbyterian Church to Russell H. Cardy; who survives.

In addition to her beloved husband of 63 years, she is survived by two sons: Edward J. Cardy of Erie and Thomas J. Cardy and his wife Joanne of Franklin. Also surviving are her grandchildren Corinne Cardy and Alexandra and Nathan Cardy; in addition to many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter: Linda Sue Cardy.

Friends may call Wednesday 2-4 & 7-8:30 PM in the Timothy E. Hartle Funeral Home, 1328 Elk Street, Franklin.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 8:30 PM in the funeral home with Reverend Lonnie Wolford, pastor of The Fox Street Church of God officiating.

Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery.
