MINERAL TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Franklin-based State Police are investigating a recent case of Theft by Deception.

Police say the crime occurred on March 29 after a 26-year-old Mineral Township man agreed to sell a set of wedding rings via eBay. The purchaser agreed to pay $4500 for the rings.

The victim shipped the rings to an Ohio address after receiving an email indicating the money had been deposited into his account.

Police say the victim contacted PayPal the following day and learned that the email he received was fraudulent. Funds were not deposited into his account.

At this point, the package had already been delivered.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
