Local Civil War Historian Bret Schweinfurth is holding an original civil war image of Jesse Reno beside the Jesse Reno memorial plaque in Franklin. Jesse Reno grew up in Venango County only leaving to join the military. He died at the battle of South Mountain, Maryland, in 1862 at the rank of Major. The town of Reno is named for him.
