Venus Man Jailed on Arson Charges

VENUS, Pa. (EYT) – A 25-year-old Venus man has been charged with Arson in connection with an incident that occurred at an apartment building in Venus, Clarion County, on Monday morning.

State Police in Marienville said the incident occurred at 12 Landmark Lane when 25-year-old Trenton Gaston recklessly burned paper and other items in the kitchen sink of an apartment building which was occupied by numerous other tenets.

Washington Township Vol Fire Department was contacted and responded to the scene; however the fire was already extinguished.

During the course of the investigation, it was determined that Gaston struck a 24-year-old Venus woman in the face during a domestic violence incident that took place on Sept. 16 around 8:30 p.m., police said.

He was apprehended a short distance from the scene and charged with Arson, Causing or Risking a Catastrophe, Simple Assault, and Harassment.

Gaston was placed in Clarion County Prison after failing to post bail which was set at $50,000.
