William C. “Bill” Painter

William C. “Bill” Painter, age 72, of New Bethlehem, died Monday evening, July 29, 2013 at the Kittanning Care Center following an illness.

Born February 7, 1941 in Wildcat (Rimersburg area) he was the son of the late Ruth Doverspike Painter.

Bill graduated from Redbank Valley High School in the Class of 1959.

He worked at Rugh’s Market as a student and continued working after graduation until being drafted into the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict.

Following his honorable discharge in 1965, Bill took a job with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. He retired from PENNDOT as a heavy equipment operator in 2003.

He married the former Jacqueline Porter on June 15, 1968. She survives.

Bill enjoyed mowing, gardening and working outdoors, he loved his truck, but his most enjoyment came from the time he spent with his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy.

He was a big Conway Twitty fan but also enjoyed listening to Alan Jackson and Toby Keith.

Survivors include his wife, Jackie and two children: James Painter of New Bethlehem and Schontell McKinney and her husband, Ray, of New Bethlehem.

Bill is also survived by his grandchildren, Bethany and Jason McKinney of New Bethlehem; two sisters: Charlene Bish and her husband, James, of New Bethlehem and Joy Yeany and her husband, Bo, of Bechtelville and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Jason Painter in 1972.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Friday, August 2, 2013 at the Rupert Funeral Home and Cremation Service Chapel, 233 Penn Street, New Bethlehem.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am Saturday, August 3, 2013 in the funeral home chapel with the Reverend Jimmy Swogger officiating over the service.

Military honors will be accorded immediately before the funeral service on Saturday by the Walter W. Craig American Legion Post # 354 of New Bethlehem.

Interment will follow at the St. Charles Catholic Cemetery in New Bethlehem.
