On Thursday, Governor Wolf announced that 26 airports will make infrastructure and equipment upgrades to maintain safety and expand aviation-related operational and economic opportunities with the assistance of over $6 million in state investments.

Clarion County Airport is among the airports slated to receive a grant, totaling $112,500, which will be used to acquire equipment to maintain the airfield. Proceeds for the Aviation Development Program are generated through the state’s jet fuel tax and PennDOT’s Multi-Modal Fund.

“The Clarion County Airport is a vital component within our overall economic development portfolio,” said Rep. Donna Oberlander.

“This airport makes it possible for manufacturers and businesses to have easier access to their sites in other parts of the country and to their partners. I’m pleased to see this investment being made locally so that airport officials can continue to improve upon local infrastructure.”

The two funding streams leverage $2.1 million in local matching funds. Public-use airports in the state are eligible for the Aviation Development Program.
