Woman Cited for Texting While Driving Following Rear-End Crash on Route 27

PLUM TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Police say a woman was cited for texting while driving following a crash that occurred on State Route 27 on Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, the accident happened around 3:39 p.m. on July 14, on Route 27/Meadville Road just east of Wallaceville Road in Plum Township.

Police say 62-year-old Melissa K. Oesterling, of Meadville, and 67-year-old Frank R. Caliguire, of Titusville, were involved in the collision.

According to police, Oesterling was traveling on State Route 27 in a 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek
when she failed to observe that a 2001 Chevrolet S10, operated by Caliguire was slowing down to make a left hand turn onto State Route 482. Oesterling’s vehicle then struck Caliguire’s vehicle from behind.

Oesterling and Caliguire were both using seat belts, and no injuries were reported.

Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene by Shambaugh’s Towing.

Chapmanville Volunteer Fire Department also assisted at the scene.

Oesterling was cited for texting while driving.
