SANDYCREEK TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Charges have been filed against a Franklin woman who allegedly left three juveniles home alone with methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in the residence.

Court documents indicate the following charges were filed through Magisterial District Judge Matthew T. Kirtland’s office against 36-year-old Mindy Lyn Snyder, of Franklin, on February 24:

– Endangering Welfare of Children — Parent/Guardian/Other Commits Offense, Misdemeanor 1 (three counts)
– Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Misdemeanor 2 (three counts)
– Possession of Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor
– Use/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor (two counts)

The charges stem from an incident that occurred in Sandycreek Township early this week.

According to a criminal complaint, around 10:21 p.m. on February 21, Franklin-based State Police were dispatched to a residence on Pittsburgh Road in Sandycreek Township, Venango County, for a report of three juveniles being left unattended with drugs and drug paraphernalia in a residence.

The complaint states a known individual contacted the Franklin-based State Police and reported that she was talking to the three juveniles, who were home alone without supervision, through a FaceTime app when she saw drug paraphernalia in plain view.

Police responded to the scene and spoke with the juveniles.

According to the complaint, they reported they were in their mother, Mindy Snyder‘s, bedroom on FaceTime, when the individual they were speaking to pointed out that she had seen drugs on the dresser and told them to go downstairs until she arrived.

Police then asked one of the juveniles to show them where the drugs were located.

According to the complaint, inside the bedroom, police observed a metal spoon with dried residue on it, a clear baggie with white powder suspected to be methamphetamine, and a glass smoking pipe that had been used, as the glass was burnt at there was liquid inside.

The complaint notes as police were leaving, Snyder arrived home and was advised the juveniles were going to be removed from theme until further notice and placed with family members. Children and Youth Services (CYS) was also contacted and has opened an investigation.

A preliminary hearing for the case has not yet been scheduled.
